Poland has been engaged in a radical process of political democratisation and transition towards a market economy since January 1990. While the political and economic transitions have been successful, they have necessitated budgetary restrictions which have affected other sectors, and science and technology (S T) in particular. This is the first OECD review of S T policy in Poland.
