Aleksander Pavlovitch Lobanov , est une magistrale « page » d'Art brut qui nous vient de Russie. Ses proches racontent qu'Aleksander est devenu sourd et muet vers l'âge de six ans à la suite d'une méningite.

Né en 1924 à Mologa, petite ville sur la Volga qui sera ensevelie par la mise en eau du lac de Rybinsk au début des années 1940, avec sa famille en 1937, ils se réfugient à Iaroslavl, capitale de la province. Aleksander entrera à l'hôpital psychiatrique en 1947. Il sera ensuite transféré à l'hôpital d'Afonino, dans la vaste plaine russe, où il y passera le reste de ses jours jusqu'en 2003.

Son oeuvre étonnante, amorcée au début des années 1960 est une vision en abîme voire une parodie de l'URSS, peu volumineuse, aux confins de l'art populaire et de la dérive psychotique est magnifiquement construite, attachante par sa couleur et son harmonie.

Le charme qui s'en dégage révèle le jaillissement remarquable de la création.

Aleksander Pavlovitch Lobanov, this is a brilliant piece of « Art brut » which comes to us from Russia. Those close to him tell how he became deaf and dumb at the age of six after suffering from meningitis.

He was born in 1924 in Mologa, a little town on the Volga which was flooded by the making of Lake Rybinsk at the beginning of the 1940s. By 1937 he and his family had taken refuge in Iaroslavl. Aleksander entered the psychiatric hospital in 1947. He was then transferred to Afonino's hospital, in the vast Russian plain, where he spent more than 50 years for he died in 2003.

His astonishing work, begun at the start of the 60s is a spoiled vision that is to say ; a parody of the USSR. This, not very large, work on the border between popular art and psychotic meander, is magnificently put together and its colour and harmony make it most attractive.

Its charm lies in the remarkable exuberance of the creation.
