Walerian Borowczyk

Né en Pologne en 1923, il étudie la peinture et la sculpture

à l'Academie des Beaux-Arts de Cracovie, puis travaille

comme lithographe et créateur d'affiches de cinéma.

En 1959, il s'établit à Paris où il vivra le reste de sa vie.

Créateur infatigable, auteur de plus de cinquante films

d'un style très original dont des dessins animés, il s'est

éteint en 2006 en laissant une oeuvre immense et variée,

qui a inspiré de nombreux artistes.

Born in Poland in 1923, he studied painting and

sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow,

before working as a lithographer and film poster

designer. In 1959, he moved to Paris where he

lived for the rest of his life. A tireless inventor,

he directed more than fifty films and animations,

all of which share a highly original style. He died

in 2006, leaving a vast and varied body of work

which continues to inspire many artists.
