How do we measure the economic importance of tourism, one of the fastest growing industries worldwide? The OECD has developed a statistical approach to capture the economic weight of the tourism sector in terms of "tourism economic accounts". This publication demonstrates the analytical value of the approach and describes its application in OECD countries using a number of case studies.
