Ce volume, hommage à Mervat Seif el-Din, rassemble 12 études portant toutes sur Alexandrie :

des nouvelles du terrain avec un rapport sur les fouilles de sauvetage dans le quartier de Smouha et

l'étude du matériel céramique mis au jour ; trois articles sur des sculptures hellénistiques et deux sur

les bronzes provenant des fouilles du Ministère des Antiquités Égyptiennes et du Centre d'Études

Alexandrines, trois études sur la faïence grecque et romaine. Pour finir, l'histoire de la constitution

du médailler du Musée gréco-romain : les archives du musée centenaire révèlent l'histoire de ses

premières années d'activité, avec les rapports ambigus et parfois tendus entre la Municipalité

d'Alexandrie et le Service des Antiquités.

This volume, in honour of Mervat Seif el-Din, gathers together 12 papers all concerning Alexandria.

There are site up-dates, with a salvage excavation report from Smouha district and a study of the

ceramic material unearthed there. Three articles cover Hellenistic sculpture, two look at bronzes

from digs run by the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and the Centre d'Études Alexandrines and a

further three study Greek and Roman faience. Lastly, the history of the Graeco-Roman Museum's

coin collection is recounted and the archives of this centenarian museum reveal the story of its

first years of activity and the sometimes ambiguous and tense relations between the Municipality of

Alexandria and the Antiquities Service.
