Charlie Chaplin a vécu ses vingt dernières années en Suisse, à Corsier-sur-Vevey. Elles furent, disait-il, les plus heureuses de sa vie. Le jour de 1952 où Chaplin et sa femme, Oona, arrivent à Lausanne, le photographe Yves Debraine est là. Par la suite, il sera le photographe attitré de la famille jusqu'en 1973. Debraine se rend régulièrement au Manoir de Ban où il réalise, dans l'intimité, des images superbes, paisibles et joyeuses, ainsi que de nombreuses cartes de voeux. Le génie du septième art apparaît tour à tour joueur, concentré sur son travail d'écriture, émerveillé devant les spectacles de cirque, piètre skieur, et père heureux entouré de ses nombreux enfants. exceptionnel sur un génie du vingtième siècle.

Charlie Chaplin spent his last twenty years in Switzerland, at Corsier-sur-Vevey. Those years were, he said, the happiest of his life. The day in 1952 when Chaplin and his wife Oona arrived in Lausanne, the photographer Yves Debraine was there. After

that he became the family's official photographer, until 1973. He regularly visited the Manoir de Ban, and in the intimacy of the family home took many superb photographs, relaxed and happy, as well as several images for Christmas cards. Chaplin, master film-maker, is discovered in various moods : playful, concentrating on his writing, marvelling at circus shows, a beginner on the ski slopes, the delighted father surrounded by his many children. unpublished, allow us an exceptional view of this genius of the twentieth century.
