Paris : 20 centuries of history

It is very difficult to talk of the history of Paris without bringing in the
history of France, because they are linked. Even in selecting events specific
to the capital, one is soon side-tracked. As for the subjects, they are so
many and varied that it is not easy to classify them. A time scale being
uniform, it was necessary for the periods when many things happened (from
the Revolution of 1789 onwards), to enlarge the scale. This "zoom" from 1786
to 2002 follows (See composition of the document). This chronology has no
other aim than to follow the evolution of Lutetia to become the Paris of 2000,
and its historic sequence. Let's dream about this prestigious past, a world
heirloom. The many and magnificent books about Paris are indispensable.
