Il ne faillira jamais à l'engagement qu'il avait scellé dans sa jeunesse, habité par le souvenir de son frère aîné Tony, l'un des résistants assassinés par les nazis en 1942 au Mont-Valérien. Son existence, donc sa carrière de photographe, sera consacrée à la défense des plus modestes, des travailleurs, des ouvriers.

In 1946, this young militant revolutionary from Haiti arrived in Paris where he used photography as a weapon in his humanitarian combat. He never wavered from the political commitment of his youth, spurred on by the memory of his brother Tony, one of the resistants assassinated by the Nazis in 1942 at Mont-Valérien. His life, hence his career as a photographer, would be dedicated to defending the cause of the poorest in society, manual workers, labourers. It is the very heart of Paris and Parisians that beats once again in this extensive photo-journal that has lasted more than half a century.
