This guide was issued upon request of the CIS-FIM commission (Welding inter-trade

commission, Federation of Mechanical Industries). Its aim is to help industrialists

improve the way they define and measure welding energies.

This document, designed as a technical guide, provides a comprehensive view of

the relationship between electrical parameters and thermal cycles for the main

welding processes.

The analysis focuses on the development of technologies and the complexity of the

electrical signals generated by new current sources.

This guide is intended for people in charge of welding procedure qualification

(WPQ). Its aim is not to replace existing standards but simply to identify problems,

define solutions and give advice.
