The french price index of agricultural products (IPPAP) measures

movements of prices payed to farmers in exchange for the delivery of

their products. It is calculated monthly by INSEE in collaboration with

the Statistical Service of the Ministry of Agriculture (SCEES) and its

methodology is harmonized with theirs of similar indices of the other

Member States of the European Union. The description of the various

methods adopted, as well as data sources and the estimation process,

presents us with an overview of the complexity of the general index

methodology, the diversity of price setting structures and the

adaptation to the changes in the marketing industry.
