After the serious 1984 drought in the Sahel, the Network for Food CrisisPrevention was set up by Club du Sahel partners in order to provide themselveswith an informal discussion arena aimed at improving their ability to intervenein crisis situations. Preventing Food Crises in the Sahel traces the Network'scontribution to improving prevention and management mechanisms.
