Specifications for the purchase of speed increaser gearunits and electrical generators in small hydroelectric power station

This document, which was drafted by Cetim at the request of, and in collaboration with Artema (Association des Roulements, des Transmissions, de l'Étanchéité et de la Mécatronique Associée - Bearings, Transmissions, Sealing and Associated Mechatronics Association) member companies and FIM Energetique (French trade association for power generation equipment - Hydro branch) is a great example of what professional organisations can do for their members : provide technical information, showcase expertise, put technical reference materials in place, etc.

These specifications must enable :

- turbine manufacturers to better define their needs, to use the same technical vocabulary as step-up gear manufacturers and electric generators ;

- step-up gear and generator manufacturers to optimise design of their products as result of a better knowledge of the whole kinematic linkage.

Consequently, following these specifications should, to the benefit of the final user, allow small hydroelectric plants to have a longer life-time, and should improve relationships between industrial companies.
