Biographies / Rudy Ricciotti ___ An architect and

engineer, winner of the Grand Prix national d'architecture in 2006,

Rudy Ricciotti is representative of a generation of architects who

combine creative power with a real understanding of construction.

He has designed a number of major works in France, notably

the Zénith Stadium in Vitrolles, Angelin Preljocaj's Centre

chorégraphique national in Aix-en-Provence, the transformation

of the Grands Moulins de Paris for the Université Denis Diderot

Paris-VII, the musée des Civilisations d'Europe et de Méditerranée

in Marseille and the arts de l'islam wing for the Louvre in Paris.

He has also worked abroad, designing the footbridge for peace

over the Han River in Seoul, the Philharmonie in Potsdam, Berlin,

the Cinema Palace in Venice, the museum of contemporary art

in Liège and the Philharmonie in Gstaad for the festival created

by Yehudi Menuhin.

SeARCH + CMA ___ Bjarne Mastenbroek est diplômé

du TU Delft. Il a travaillé avec Yago Conde, Enric Miralles & Benedetta

Tagliabue (EMBT), van Gameren Mastenbroek architecten,

de architectengroep. En 2002, il a fondé SeARCH. Avec Dick van

Gameren, il est l'auteur de l'ambassade des Pays-Bas en Éthiopie

(prix Aga Khan). Parmi les projets de l'agence, il y a la synagogue

pour la congrégation progressive juive à Amsterdam et le centre

de conférence de Copenhague. L'un des projets actuels est

un hôtel 5 étoiles en Suisse. Bjarne Mastenbroek est aussi

urbaniste superviseur du quartier nord d'Amsterdam.

Christian Müller, suisse, est diplômé de l'ETH de Zurich. Il fonde

son agence en 1999 à Rotterdam et une seconde en Suisse. Avec

pragmatisme, il repousse toujours plus loin l'ambition de travailler

sur les enjeux actuels de l'architecture et de l'urbanisme.

Son agence se caractérise par une imagination flexible durant

le développement du projet. L'art moderne, la littérature

et les voyages influencent fortement ses projets. Il a donné

des conférences à la Harvard University et au Chandigarh College

of Architecture, en Inde. ___ Bjarne Mastenbroek, principal

architect and director of SeARCH, studied at the TU Delft.

He worked at Yago Conde, Enric Miralles & Benedetta Tagliabue

(EMBT) and van Gameren Mastenbroek architecten,

de architectengroep. In 2002 he founded SeARCH. Together with

Dick van Gameren, he designed the Dutch Embassy in Ethiopia

(Aga Khan Award). SeARCH has designed, amongst other

buildings, the synagogue for the Progressive Jewish Congregation

in Amsterdam and the Conference Centre in Copenhagen.

One of its current projects is a 5* Lodge hotel in Switzerland.

He is also context supervisor of the Amsterdam Noord district.

Christian Müller (Switzerland) graduated from the ETH Zürich.

In 1999 he founded Christian Müller Architects in Rotterdam, later

opening a branch in Switzerland. Adopting a pragmatic attitude,

he pursues their ambition of working on today's challenging urban

and architectural developments. The distinguishing characteristic

of the agency is its unusual imaginative flexibility in a project-based

approach. His designs are strongly influenced by modern

art, literature and his travels. Christian Müller works in varying

collaborations with several architectural offices. He has lectured

at the GSD Harvard University and the Chandigarh College of

Architecture, India.

Fran Silvestre ___ Fran Silvestre est le directeur de la

Escuela de Arquitectura de Valence. Il enseigne dans plusieurs

écoles. Il collabore avec Álvaro Siza Vieira, prix Pritzker. Créée

en 2007, l'agence a reçu de nombreux prix dont le prix MHK

(Berlin) pour le projet Casa del Atrio. Le projet Casa en la Ladera

del castillo a été élu par la Fondation Caja Arquitectos l'une

des meilleures réalisations espagnoles 2008-2009. Fran Silvestre

est invité par de nombreuses institutions à présenter son travail,

qui est aussi largement publié. María José Sáez est associée

depuis 2003. ___ Fran Silvestre is the deputy director of the

Escuela de Arquitectura de Valencia. He also teaches in different

schools. He collaborated with Álvaro Siza Vieira, winner of

the Pritzker Prize. His studio, founded in 2007, has won several

awards, including the MHK Prize (Berlin) in 2010 for the Casa

del Atrio. The Casa en la Ladera del Castillo project was chosen

by the Fundación Caja Arquitectos as one of the best Spanish

buildings of 2008-2009. He has been invited to lecture at various

European institutions. His studio work has been widely published.

Since 2003, María José Sáez has been the collaborator and

co-author of Fran Silvestre.

Spedstudio ___ Spedstudio a été fondé en 2008 à Venise.

L'agence réunit travail d'analyse et théorie pour apporter

de nouvelles réponses dans le contexte actuel. Par l'utilisation

de nouvelles technologies, chaque projet est une réponse ciblée,

innovante et tient compte de l'usage des ressources. L'approche

est critique mais pragmatique, les résultats ambitieux mais

responsables. ___ Spedstudio was founded in 2008, Venice.

It strives to combine intense analytical work with a constant

process of theoretical research to provide a fresh point of view,

while taking into account the demands of contemporary life.

Through the use of technological advances, each project

ensures a targeted response, innovative and with a conscientious

use of resources. The approach is critical but pragmatic,

the structure is lean but professional, the results are ambitious

but responsible.

Florence Sarano ___ Florence Sarano, architecte dplg,

est commissaire associée pour l'architecture à la villa Noailles

depuis 2001. Elle est aussi diplômée d'architecture de l'Université

de Columbia (New York) et d'histoire de l'art de la Sorbonne

(Paris). Après avoir travaillé au Japon, à Londres et aux

États-Unis, elle est désormais établie à Toulon et enseigne

à l'École d'architecture de Marseille depuis 2005. ___

Florence Sarano is associated Curator for architecture, since

2001, at the villa Noailles. As French architect she also graduated

from Columbia University (New York) and in Art history from

La Sorbonne (Paris). Having worked in Japan, England and the

US, she is now established in her native city of Toulon and also

teaches at the School of Architecture in Marseille since 2005.

En choisissant neuf maisons en Europe, nous souhaitons faire découvrir neuf architectes

mais aussi leurs neuf univers personnels qui sont à l'origine de ces projets.

Derrière chacune de ces propositions, il y a un univers singulier : celui de chaque architecte.

Avec ses questionnements, ses souvenirs, ses références, ses obsessions, ses convictions,

ses critiques, sa culture, sa formation, ses outils de travail, ses recherches et ses positions,

ses doutes aussi, il conçoit des propositions pour habiter le monde.

Chaque architecte témoignage ici des différentes phases du développement du projet,

de l'intention à la réalisation.

Ils s'interrogent tous sur le rôle des architectes et leur place dans la société.

Ils ont accepté de révéler et de partager une partie de leurs univers de création personnels.

We choose nine houses in Europe, to discover nine architects and also their nine intimate

universes wich are the project's origin.

Behind each proposition there is a singular universe: the architect one. Whith his questions,

his memories, his references, his obsessions, his convictions, his criticisms, his culture,

his studies, his work tools, his researches and his positions, his doubts also, he design

propositions to live in the world.

Each architect explain the various steps of the project development from the intention

to the construction.

They wonder all about the rôle of the architects and their place in the society.

They accept to reveal and to share a part of their intimate universe.
