By 2010 natural gas is projected to account for close to one quarter of the world's total energy consumption. At the same time as the role of gas in meeting world energy demand is increasing in importance, natural gas markets are becoming more open. International trading and transmission of gas are accelerating at a pace which has taken many by surprise.
