Pierre Bonnard gardens

Neither a botanist nor a gardener, all his life and in every season Bonnard painted the gardens he knew. Spaces open onto infinity, mosaics of colours, domestic Edens where cats and their masters laze at siesta time, they constitute a major theme in his work and illustrate his definition of painting as « time standing still ».
