Norman McLaren correspondait comme il cinématographiait : tout était dessin et lignes animées, gravure et écriture à même la surface des choses... Dessinéastes découvre son travail typographique et les lettres manuscrites, admirablement calligraphiées, qu'il échangea avec de grands maîtres du cinéma d'animation comme avec de jeunes cinéastes, chercheurs ou étudiants. Pierre Hébert, souvent considéré comme le principal héritier artistique de Norman McLaren, raconte ici cette filiation, pour un dialogue par-delà les âges entre deux grands cinéastes d'animation.
I have the fondest memories of Annecy, when, in 1965, the Festval honored me and my co-workers with a splendid Retrospective of films and a very well-planned exhibition of our techniques, drawings and paintings, all conceived with meticulous love and care.
On this occasion of Annecy's 25<sup>th</sup> Anniversary I send my warmest congratulations to all the devoted and dedicated persons who have organized such a distinguished and greatly cherished event in the lives of Animators.
