Since the demise of the Soviet Union, Russia has been undergoing both democratic and economic reform at the same time. This creates considerable, but, as this study demonstrates, not insurmountable obstacles for the implementation of reform. This publication gives an unprecedented account of some successes of reform policies in Russia.
