Long live the Festival ! Over sixty years since it all began, people still flock here from all over the world, to see and buy films, be seen and compete. It's no surprise that the Cannes Film Festival is the international event that receives the most media coverage after the Olympics.

This is the amazing story recounted here with nearly a hundred and fifty pictures. The oldest seem to have been taken from a fresco in the style of Sacha Guitry. They show stars descending from their pedestals in swimsuits to bathe in the Mediterranean and starlets achieving instant celebrity as passers-by look on. The most recent shots are more like trailers from the latest Hollywood production.

But as this great Festival goes on, all those who have contributed to its legend are there to celebrate the cinema...
