Cities in OECD countries consume 60 to 80 per cent of total energy. This causes local pollution and contributes significantly to global environmental damage. This publication, based on more than 40 case studies, underlines the role cities may play in promoting less energy-intensive forms of urban development and management, provoking less environmental damage.
