Health system reforms have somewhat reduced spending growth, but pressures on the public purse and on access to medical services remain. After reviewing differences in health systems in OECD countries, this publication examines policy options for increasing efficiency and effectiveness in this area. It emphasizes the need to improve the ways in which health care is provided and paid for.
