À l'occasion de la 33<sup>e</sup> conférence internationale du Conseil international d'action sociale [ICSW] - Tours, 30 juin-4 juillet 2008 -, le Comité national d'action sociale se penche sur les quatre-vingts années d'existence de l'ICSW. Ce travail historique a pour ambition de proposer quelques points de repère : dates-clefs, portraits significatifs des acteurs de l'action sociale, événements majeurs... Il vise aussi à montrer le chemin parcouru depuis 1928 dans la formulation des objectifs, le mode d'organisation et le rayonnement.

For the 33<sup>rd</sup> International Conference of the International Council on Social Welfare [ICSW], held in Tours (France) from June 30 to July 4, 2008, the French Committee on Social Welfare has reviewed the history of ICSW over the eighty years since it was founded in 1928. The history presents the main facts and reference points, including key dates, portraits of significant figures in social welfare and major events, following developments with changing objectives, organisation and expansion.
