Dit Jaarboek Architectuur Vlaanderen, 2000-2001, het vijfde dat door het ministerie van de Vlaamse Gemeenschap wordt uitgegeven, biedt een overzicht van de recente ontwikkelingen van de architectuur en stedenbouw in Vlaanderen en Brussel. Het geheel van tien artikels bevat zowel thematische teksten als teksten over geselecteerde architectuurprojecten en verbanden daartussenin. Volgende thema's komen aan bod : de architectuur van bedrijfsgebouwen, (her)inrichtingen en uitbreidingen, het Ruimtelijk Structuurplan Vlaanderen, de verdichtingskwestie, het collectieve wonen, kritisch contextuele architectuur, een gesprek met stadsontwerpers, de creatie van `gemeenschappelijke ruimten' en de alleenstaande woning/villa in Vlaanderen. Traditioneel bevat het boek ook een overzicht van publicaties, tentoonstellingen, lezingen, wedstrijden en architectuurprijzen en subsidies uit de beschouwde periode. Door dit alles is het jaarboek een waardevolle bron van informatie en vormt het tevens een steunpunt voor de ontwikkeling van de architectuur-discussie in Vlaanderen.

Cette cinquième édition des Annales de l'Architecture en Flandre, 2000-2001, publiée par le Ministère de la Communauté flamande, passe en revue les récentes évolutions qui ont marqué l'architecture et l'urbanisme en Flandre et à Bruxelles. Dix textes traitent chacun d'un thème particulier qui est mis en relation avec des projets d'architecture. Les sujets suivants sont abordés : l'architecture des bâtiments d'entreprise, les (ré)aménagements et les extensions, le Schéma de structure d'aménagement de la Flandre, la densification, l'habitat collectif, l'architecture contextuelle critique, un dialogue entre auteurs de projets urbains, la création d'espaces communautaires et l'habition individuelle / la villa en Flandre. Traditionellement, les Annales contiennent également une liste des publications, des expositions, des concours et des prix d'architecture au cours de la période considérée. Ces différents éléments en font une source d'information précieuse et un document servant de base au débat architectural en Flandre.

This Flanders Architectural Yearbook, 2000-2001, the fifth published by the Ministry of the Flemish Community, presents a survey of recent developments in architecture and urban development in Flanders and Brussels. The collection of ten articles includes both thematic approaches and discussion of selected architectural projects and the links between them. The following topics are covered : the architecture of industrial buildings, refits and extensions, the Spatial Structure Plan for Flanders, the question of densification, collective housing, critical contextual architecture, a conversation with urban designers, the creation of `collective spaces' and the detached house/villa in Flanders. In addition, the book also contains a list of publications, exhibitions, competitions and awards from the period covered. All this should make it a valuable source of information and a basis for architectural discussion in Flanders.
