Depuis plus de vingt ans, au coeur de la capitale européenne,

l'Office d'Art Contemporain promeut une pluralité d'individualités

artistiques, toutes disciplines confondues, nourrissant une lecture

investie du monde. En 2009, pour l'union fait la forme , son

fondateur Jean-Marie Stroobants invitait quarante artistes

à s'approprier plastiquement les trois couleurs nationales

d'un pays résolument en mal de soi. Artiste lui-même, il sait

les difficultés à faire oeuvre et à exister par la seule pertinence

du geste artistique en sa pleine liberté. En 2014, l'Office donnait

à voir une rétrospective de la mystérieuse collection Bernstein,

construite au fil de choix partagés, et dont le présent livre offre

une suite.

For more than twenty years, in the heart of Europe's capital city,

the Office d'Art Contemporain has been promoting the diversity of

artistic individualities, encompassing every discipline, and fostering

a thoroughly global approach. In 2009, for the exhibition l'union fait

la forme , the Office's founder, Jean-Marie Stroobants, invited forty

artists to present their creative visions under the three national

colours of Belgium, a country that is experiencing so many intercommunal

tensions. As an artist himself, he is acutely aware of the

difficulties in engaging in and existing solely via the artistic creative

act, in all its liberty. In 2014, the Office presented a retrospective

of the mysterious Bernstein Collection - which was assembled as

a result of shared choices -, to which this book is the natural

extension.
