Construire ailleurs

Là-bas, où construire c'est s'attaquer à trouver des solutions pour une population dont les besoins élémentaires de survie sont si fragilisés. Là-bas, où les enjeux architecturaux nécessitent d'aller au-delà de notre quotidien confortable. Ici, durant leurs études, ce sont des jeunes gens qui se sont engagés pour partir étudiants et en revenir architectes. Là-bas, imaginer autrement c'est aussi créer une esthétique différente : celle de la sensualité de la terre rouge, de l'ombre des bambous, de la courbe du pneu coupé en deux et qui devient gouttière, de l'empreinte des mains qui ont construit généreusement ce mur si charnel.

Ensemble, bâtir une énergie commune qui dépasse ce que les langages séparent : vouloir construire l'espace de l'altérité.

Building elsewhere

Over there, building involves attempting to find solutions for people whose basic survival needs are inadequately provided for. Over there, the architectural challenges extend beyond the provision of our everyday comfort.

Here, it is the young who, during their years of study, become socially committed, leaving as students and returning as architects. Over there, imagining new ways of building is also a way of creating a different aesthetic, one centred on the sensuality of the red earth, the shade of the bamboos, the curve of the tire cut in two to make a gutter, and the imprint of the hands that generously built this wall that has such physical presence.

The aim is to create together a common energy that goes beyond what is separated by language : the desire to build a space for alterity.
