The war in Afghanistan was "won"
by less than five hundred members of
the British and American Special Forces
and CIA agents, in only forty-nine days
from the time they landed in Afghanistan
until the fall of Kandahar, signaling
the end of the Taliban regime.
This was the first time that a conventional
war was won thanks to the action
of a few hundred commandos.
And the other coalition Special Forces
also played important roles, especially
the British SAS and SBS, but also
their Australian counterparts, as well as
commandos from northern Europe :
Norwegians, Danes and Germans.
Although the French Special Forces teams
were absent at the beginning, they
landed in Afghanistan to fight along side
the coalition forces during the summer
of 2003.
