Le kitsch rassemblant sur la scène les résidus de la société de

consommation, succède au tréteau nu du théâtre d'Art pour

nous confronter à la «grimace du réel». En opposant sa chair et sa

force de séduction à l'abstraction conceptuelle de l'art

contemporain, la variété des formes kitsch permet aux dramaturges

comme aux artistes de la scène d'interroger et de critiquer la

puissance des effets du théâtre. Entre naïveté et manipulation des

affects, l'artiste réveille alors les démons de cet autre hypocrite, le

spectateur bien entendu, aussi bien complice que critique de la

société dans laquelle nous nous trouvons ici-bas jetés.

De Gombrowicz à Renaud Camus en passant par Fassbinder, des

constructions criardes d'Abattoir fermé jusqu'à la douceur feinte

d'Yves-Noël Genod, du cabotinage cruel d'un Carmelo Bene

jusqu'aux recyclages contestataires de la Camp attitude, sans

négliger un détour par le cinéma et l'orgue de barbarie, du

ridiculous... au fabulous , ce volume laisse encore planer l'ironie vague

d'une interrogation : et si Beckett était kitsch ?

The kitsch gathering together on stage the consumer society residues, succeeds to the naked board

of Art theatre to confront us to the "face of reality". Opposing its flesh and its power of

seduction to the conceptual abstraction of contemporary Art, the variety of kitsch forms allows

the dramatists and stage artists to question and criticize the power of theatre effects. Between

spectator of course, partner as well as critic of the society in which we are here thrown.

From Gombrowicz to Renaud Camus, through Fassbinder, from gaudily constructions of

"Abattoir fermé" to the pretending gentleness of Yves-Noël Genod, from the cruel third-rate

acting of Carmelo Bene to the anti-establishment recycling of the "Camp attitude" without

disregard a detour by cinema and barrel organ, from ridiculous.....to fabulous, this essay still

hangs over the vague irony of a question : and if Beckett was kitsch ?
