en ruine, architectes et décorateurs s'unissent pour bâtir un monde

meilleur. Ils cherchent à assouvir leurs rêves démocratiques dans

les logements reconstruits en instaurant le confort moderne et

de nouveaux espaces, comme la salle de séjour, le coin cuisine

et la chambre d'enfant, qu'ils dotent d'un mobilier innovant, sobre et

pratique. Un basculement qui fait oublier l'élitisme Art déco et ouvre

la voie à la société d'abondance.

S'appuyant sur l'exemple de l'Appartement témoin Perret au

Havre, cet ouvrage relate l'instant où est né notre univers quotidien

actuel, à travers le regard des photographes (Doisneau, Parry...),

architectes (Perret, Lods...) et décorateurs (Gabriel, Gascoin...) les plus

emblématiques.

In post-war Europe, that was free but reduced to rubble, architects

and decorators united to build a better world. In their reconstructed

buildings, they sought to realise their dreams of accessibility for

the masses, by establishing modern comforts and new living spaces,

such as the living/dining room, kitchenette, and children's room.

These rooms were furnished in an innovative, sober, and practical

style, marking a drastic change from the elitism of Art Deco that paved

the way for a new and affluent society.

With the Perret Show Flat in Le Havre at its foundation, this work

depicts the birth of daily life as we know it as seen through the eyes

of the post-war era's most emblematic photographers (Doisneau, Parry),

architects (Perret, Lods), and interior decorators (Gabriel, Gascoin).
