« Comment relier tout ça ? Moi je ferais un détour, un peu surprenant peut-être : à mon sens cette série n'est pas sans rapport avec votre livre Caroline, Histoire n° 2 . Vous vous rappelez sans doute les tatouages que Mitchum porte sur les poings dans La Nuit du chasseur  : Love/Hate . Si le livre sur Caroline tire le fil de l'amour (qui découd et fait disparaître l'amant dévoué), cette série semble enrouler l'écheveau de la haine : l'amant frappe à la porte, colérique, genre Jack Torrance. Du coup, il n'est plus question ici de disparition - du moins pas celle du photographe - mais, au contraire, d'apparition ou d'irruption (ce serait ça la couche de peinture sur les images : votre patte - votre griffe et votre empreinte). Road movie, polar, mais surtout conte de sorcières : Julien Magre, à la traque d'une enfance enfuie, donne corps à un oeil-menace, aussi adulte que meurtrier. Labyrinthe du regard : lignes de fuite qui s'enchevêtrent et lignée dont nul n'échappe - tant qu'une lame dentée ne vient déchirer le point de vue. »

« How can we bring it all together ? I would make a detour that might seem a little surprising. To me, there is a link between this series and your book Caroline, Histoire n° 2 . You must remember the Love/Hate tattoos on Mitchum's fists in The Night of the Hunter . While your book follows the thread of love (which unravels and makes the devoted lover disappear), this series seems to revolve around hate : the lover knocks on the door in a fit of anger, like Jack Torrance. Here, the question is not disappearance - or at least, not in terms of the photographer - but appearance or irruption (the layer of paint on the images, which is your style - your signature and mark). We see a road movie and a detective novel, but above all a witch's tale : Julien Magre, chasing an escaped childhood, reveals a menacing look that is as mature as it is murderous. This is the maze of the gaze : a tangle of vanishing lines and a lineage no one escapes - unless a jagged blade comes along and slashes the point of view. »
