J'ai alors découvert ce Vase de pivoines qui en fait, curieusement, possédait également des correspondances formelles très évidentes avec la Corbeille de fraises ; une gamme chromatique très proche avec des dominantes vertes et rouges très marquées. La correspondance était double, iconographique bien évidemment, mais également, et de manière plus diffuse, formelle, dans les aspects colorés et la texture végétale. Naît ainsi la possibilité de voir les collections sous un nouveau jour. Valérie Belin, artiste française née en 1964, inlassablement et presque à contre-courant, a construit une oeuvre radicale autour de la photographie de personnages ou d'objets. So then I discovered this Vase de pivoines which, funnily enough, actually also presented some very obvious formal correspondences with the Corbeille defrais es : a very similar range of colours, with very markedly dominant greens and reds. It was a twofold correspondence, iconographic of course, but also in a more diffuse, formal way, in the coloured aspects and the plantlike texture. On the Museed'Orsay's invitation, artists of today dialogue with its collections by choosing a work they feel close to, thereby providing an opportunity to view the collections in afresh light. Valerie Belin, a French artist born in 1964, has been, tirelessly and going almost against the mainstream, building up a radical oeuvre centred on photography of characters and objects.
