Most OECD countries have set policies to stimulate increasing use of renewable energy in the next century. Asubstantial part of this growth will come from "new" forms of renewable energy not yet established in the market place. Enthusiasm for renewables reflects their environmental benefits, particularly in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
