Pour cette 11<sup>e</sup> Leçon inaugurale, l'École de Chaillot a invité pour la première fois l'un de ses anciens
élèves, l'architecte Philippe Prost, afin qu'il nous parle de son rapport à l'histoire et au patrimoine
dans sa pratique du projet. Architecte et urbaniste, historien de la fortification, il fonde l'agence
AAPP - Agence d'architecture Philippe Prost - en 1993 à Paris. Il est aujourd'hui professeur à
l'ENSA de Paris-Belleville. Avec le Mémorial international Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, Philippe Prost
a réalisé une oeuvre contemporaine maîtresse, illustrant ainsi combien création et patrimoine
vont de pair, et que point n'est besoin de sectoriser l'architecture.
This 11<sup>th</sup> inaugural lecture was the first to be delivered by one of the École de Chaillot's former
students, the architect Philippe Prost, who was invited to address the role of history and heritage
in his architectural and landscape projects. An architect, urban planner and historian of
fortifications, he created his office AAPP - Agence d'architecture Philippe Prost - in Paris in 1993
and now teaches at ENSA de Paris-Belleville. The Mémorial international Notre-Dame-de-Lorette
is Philippe Prost's contemporary masterpiece. His Ring of Remembrance, illustrates the extent
to which creativity and heritage go hand in hand and architecture cannot be compartmentalised.
