Despite decades of effort and investment to control pollution, the pollution burden remains high in OECD countries, where continued economic growth has outweighed many gains in environmental quality. But there is now a new sense of urgency about making durable progress to reduce pollution and OECD countries are experimenting with a range of approaches to {prevent} environmental damage.
