The challenge of this book is to examine and compare the opinions of
researchers, teachers and practitioners about the learning process of the
amateur musician in group situations.
The discussed fields are as diverse as are the questions raised by the
development of a musical education that increasingly values collective
practices, as well as by the challenge to define what the amateur musician is.
In this book, the reader will find both convergent and contradictory
ideas that enriched the two day seminar held in Mayenne on 25<sup>th</sup> and
26<sup>th</sup> January 2010. More than an overall report, it is a straightforward
