Through this book written in the spirit of a travelogue, the author shares her passion for the deep-sea driling cruises that gathered many different nationalities, many different jobs, an enormous quantity of rock samples, the thousands of hours spent describing those rocks, the wonderful teamwork, the happy smiles and daily « hi's », the minor and major moments of science and the friendships that transcended cultural and political borders.
