The history of ESCI : 1967-2000

The story of esci kits, 1967 - 2000
In Italy, modelling began during the 1960s with a few companies like Artiplast (initially Plastic Toys ), Aliplast (which became later Italaerei , then finally Italeri ) and ESCI. ESCI actually brought many innovations to the world of modelling with the first wide-scale distribution of additional decal sheets, the first large scale military motorcycles, the first European 1/72 AFV models, the first to issue multiple variants of the same model with different detail parts or markings, the first (and so far only) kits of large-scale fighter aircraft cockpits among other innovations.
The actual origins of ESCI can be traced to before WWII when it was incorporated as the « Ente Scambi Coloniali Internazionali » - Company for Trade with the International Colonies.
