Chansons marines

Naître en bord de mer, c'est recevoir en cadeau les odeurs de l'estran et la musique éolienne dans les drisses et les haubans... Alors, en exil volontaire sur les bords de la Loire, l'écume des ans pleine de ses désirs de mer, Dan prit un jour la plume et la trempa dans le vernis de sa guitare. Depuis, il raconte la Loire et ses mariniers, parle avec tendresse de sa Bretagne natale, évoque la mémoire d'une épave ou d'un vieux quai de granit, nous entraîne dans le sillage des corsaires et des pirates, rend hommage a des hommes d'exception, tandis que l'accordéon de son complice Nico, souligne ses mélodies tour à tour nostalgiques, dansantes, dramatiques ou humoristiques.

Fort d'une longue expérience dans d'autres formations musicales qui l'a conduit à travers l'Europe et au Québec dans plusieurs festivals maritimes, le duo Bâbord-Tribord s'est constitué fin 2011 autour des chansons de Dan.

Dan ne chante pas seulement ses textes, il les raconte. C'est pourquoi, chaque chanson est enrichie d'un récit documenté ou imaginé en plus de la partition et du texte. Les chansons sont regroupées en chapitres, chacun étant illustré par une peinture originale d'Hervé Gouzerh, qui a également réalisé la couverture de cet ouvrage. Les quatre CD qui accompagnent ce livre ont été enregistrés et masterisés par Terence Briand du studio Nyima.

Born in Brittany by the sea, Dan was exposed to the smells of the foreshore and the

sound of the wind from the hal-yards or the fishing boats... During his voluntary exile

by the Loire river Dan's longing for the Sea urged him to bring forward his feather pen

and dip it into the varnish of his guitar.

Since then his songs keep telling us about the Loire and its mariners, his native Brittany

with memories of ship wrecks or old granite quays. He takes us in the wake of pirates

and privateers as well as introducing us to men of honour.

The chromatic accordion of his talented friend Nico emphasizes the nostalgia, the

humour and the rhythm of Dan's melodies.

Dan's long experience in a number of musical groups led him across Europe where he

participated in several maritime festivals. The « Bâbord-Tribord » duo, presenting Dan's

lyrics and music, was formed in 2011. Dan not only sings his lyrics, he tells them.

That's why each song is enriched with a documented or imagined story.

All the songs are grouped into chapters, each illustrated by an original painting by

Hervé Gouzerh, who is also the designer of the cover of this book.

The four CDs accompanying this book were recorded and mastered by Terence Briand
