There are seven brothers and sisters : three boys called Edgar, Oscar and William ; and four girls called Charlotte, Emily, Patience and Beatrix. For as long as they can remember they have spent most weekends and holidays in their house in the country : a mansion perched on the top of a hill overlooking the river Oise.

Patience is ten years old. She's full of life with a mischievous sparkle in her eye. Always ready to hunt for buried treasure, she was never bored in the country. Rising early one bright Sunday morning she goes off on her own into the woods surrounding the mansion. Who is this tramp she unexpectedly meets ?
