Founded in February 1973, the European Trade Union

Confederation (ETUC) currently comprises 76 national

trade union confederations and 11 industry federations

in 35 countries.

ETUC defends the interests of more than 60 million

workers before the European institutions. It supports

the enlargement of the Union to include other

European countries, as well as the Union's active role

for peace, developpement and social justice in the world.

A European social partner, ETUC endeavours to

deepen the European democratic, economic and social

policy dialogue, and intends to delve deeper into the

chartered course in European collective bargaining.
