Atlas of surgical approaches to pilon fractures

This book is the first comprehensive Atlas for surgical approaches to pilon fractures, outlining the anatomy as it relates to surgical exposure thus providing a road map for the surgeon.

Ten different surgical approaches are suggested depending on the specific nature of the fracture. In this format it is ideal for preoperative planning after the initial acute management. This has been described as temporary spanning with an external fixator (SPAN), CT imaging (SCAN), and making a preoperative plan (PLAN). It is only by following these well-designed and tested surgical routes that one avoids the perils of wound coverage breakdown and infection, nonunion, and/or malunion.
